To volunteer is to give back to the community and Syme Woolner has thrived on services rendered by our volunteers. Our Volunteer Services provides opportunities for individuals looking to give back to the community. Volunteers are placed in all areas of Syme Woolner programming. The Volunteer Services program also works with schools, colleges and universities to assist students in finding placement opportunities within Syme Woolner.

Program History
The Volunteer Program was established in September 2007. Due to the high demands of volunteerism in the agency the program was created to help deal with the demands. The program started out with less than 25 volunteers and has grown in numbers to today’s date. |
Program Objectives
- Help individuals become job ready
- Help students gain experience for either school and/or employment
- Build partnerships between businesses and the agency
- Create opportunities for the community members and/or individuals to give back to the community
|
The benefit of the volunteer program is it helps provide duties and positions that are suitable for the needs of the job and potential volunteer. It is also a tool to help potential volunteers/ students gain experience, so they can become job ready. Also having a volunteer program in the agency aids in the structure of volunteer management. The volunteer program is operated out of the satellite office located at 2468 Eglinton Avenue. West. Volunteer positions are available at both sites (either the Family Centre and/or the Drop In). With the interviewing and assessment it is usually done at the satellite office.
